Our Story

Hey! I am LaToya, the one woman show behind 9twofour Designs.

I am an introvert but I am a creative to my core! I have been crafty all my life. I love the arts and doing anything creative. It's where I can truly be myself. I was always encouraged growing up to express myself through any mediums my heart desired, which usually led me to drawing, painting, and writing. Often times, you could find me sprawled out across the floor among endless sheets of paper, pens, colored pencils, markers, paint AND crayons. Yes, I was always doing the most! Creating is in my genes, I have many picture day pictures rocking a matching dress and headband that my mother created on what eventually became my very first sewing machine! My grandmother and great grandmother also sewed so I am lowkey honored to continue the sewing legacy.

I'm sure you're wondering what this numerical mash up business name is all about. Well, there is no time like the present to introduce you to 9TwoFour! It's quite simple, it's just my birthday which is September 24th! I love birthdays and celebrating life, so I thought it would be fun to name my business after my own life celebration!

9TwoFour officially started in 2015 on May 5 (my brother's birthday). Born from my creative desire to always be unique and one of a kind; for about a year before it's official start, I began creating travel bags for myself and family members as gifts. Fast forward to today and it has been a wonderful opportunity to create one of a kind pieces for individuals who love to be as unique as each of my pieces are!

All the items on this site are cut and sewn by me personally in my studio in Charlotte, NC. Please be aware that there is a lot of thought and planning that goes into each item, but I am human so nothing is perfect. A tribute to each item's uniqueness!
